You read that headline right. Although it has been less than a week since the official Galaxy S26 series unveiling, (super) early Galaxy S27 leaks are already starting to show up!

Software-based upgrades bear the brunt of innovation with the Galaxy S26 series, but that might not be the case with its successor.

If you haven't pre-ordered an S26 series device, you might want to wait for a bit and learn more about what the Galaxy S27 could bring.

According to credible leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo (via 9to5Google), Samsung has developed a new 'ISOCELL HPA' sensor that could replace the existing sensor Samsung has been using on its recent flagships.

While the new sensor maintains its familiar 200MP resolution seen on 'Ultra' flagships, it marks a big sensor size bump.

For reference, the new S26 Ultra features a 1/1.3-inch main sensor, which is the same sensor size seen on the S25 Ultra's 200MP main shooter. Next year's S27 Ultra could use Samsung's newly developed ISOCELL HPA, bringing the sensor size up to 1/1.12-inches.

This should result in the main shooter being able to gather more light, ensuring a crisper image. It would also ensure that photon-hungry features like the S26 series' Horizon Lock can function better.

Elsewhere, DCS' post also indicates that the new sensor will boast 'LOFIC' technology. LOFIC stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, and it essentially ensures that each individual pixel in the sensor can absorb a higher (comparatively) amount of light before being overexposed.

It's worth noting that this is a very (very) early leak. DCS doesn't claim that the new tech will make its way to the S27 series. The leaker only speculates that considering the tech is expected to be released in 2027, and it is made by Samsung, the company's own top-of-the-line flagship will be the most logical candidate to show it off.
