The recruitment of Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2026, has been nothing short of an emotional ride for every fanbase involved. The five-star small forward, originally from Kentucky, played most of his prep career at Notre Dame Academy before transferring to Rainier Beach High School for the remainder of his senior season. Since then, the chase has only intensified.
Stokes has long held a top three of Kansas, Kentucky, and Oregon with two programs experiencing stretches of heavy momentum. Kentucky held the early momentum, but the early signing period passed, and the buzz shifted for Kansas, an Adidas program, leading to flipped predictions from national analysts.

“Mark Pope was here,” Bethea said. “Tyran is in the process of setting up an official visit when his season is over. He is not in a rush to make his decision. He is looking for the best fit.”
Also, it has been reported that Kentucky assistant Jason Hart was at Stokes’ 63-point Senior Night explosion recently and his 52-point showcase back in December. It’s pretty clear that Kentucky is far from throwing in the towel in this recruitment, but will this push be enough to overtake the Jayhawks when it’s all said and done?
For now, the nation’s top senior remains undecided, and the recruiting drama is far from over.
