Warrenton baseball fans were no stranger to the magic of the McGrorty twins. Whether it was strikeouts on the mound, bullets to throw runners out at second or long home runs, they were always good for something special every game.

Though the pair graduated last summer, they continued the magic at their new home: Linn Benton Community College in Albany.

Talon and Tyson are already making an impact on the diamond for the Roadrunners. Just like in high school, Talon splits his time between pitcher and the field, while his brother spends the majority of his time behind the plate. The brother connection was on display during Talon’s last start on March 5.

Taking the mound in the second game of a double header, the freshman hurled a no-hitter to carry the Roadrunners to a 1-0 victory over Clackamas Community College. Talon’s brother Tyson, was behind the plate and they embraced after their latest magical moment. This recent no-hitter joins the one Talon threw their last high school baseball season against Valley Catholic while pitching for Warrenton High School.

So far, McGrorty has four starts under his belt for Linn Benton and is currently 2-0 with a 1.19 earned run average. He has a whip of .75 and has 15 strikeouts in 22.2 innings pitched. His brother Tyson is currently batting .231 with 4 runs batted in in 26 at bats. Defensively, he has nine catcher assists in his eight games behind the plate. A catching assist is when the catcher touches the ball before recording an out — this could be in the form of a caught stealing or throwing down to a certain base.

So far the Roadrunners have a 14-2 record through 16 games and are currently on a four-game winning streak.
